PESA Institutional Member
By Kathryn Netherwood, School Coordinator
We are very pleased to announce that Lance Holt School is an Institutional Member of Positive Education Schools Association (PESA). The PESA Board of Directors commented, “It is absolutely wonderful to hear of the many strategies that your school has implemented to align with principles of Positive Education.”
In recent years Positive Education has been rapidly growing with a large number of schools and educators across Australia and internationally doing outstanding work embedding Positive Psychology into their programs, with the aim of improving student wellbeing and academic performance.
PESA is a group of such schools, educators, academics, parents and community members who are committed to greater collaboration and sharing of expertise in Positive Education, and the benefits to students and the community. PESA is the national association with each state having their own chapter. WA had their inaugural meeting on 7 August 2017.
PESA is supported by global leaders in the field – Our Patron, Professor Martin Seligman, is universally recognised as the founder of Positive Psychology, and our Ambassador, Professor Lea Waters, is the current President of the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA) and the Gerry Higgins Chair in Positive Psychology, University of Melbourne.
PESA is an inclusive, collaborative community eager to share ideas and learn from each other. PESA embraces one of the practices of Positive Education to ‘pay it forward’ so that children and their teachers and families have access to learning about and engaging in Positivie Education.
